Working With Children Check (WWCC)

All members 18 years and over must obtain a Working with Children Check (WWCC) or equivalent. As a volunteer it is free of charge. You must list the Apollo Bay SLSC and Life Saving Victoria as your volunteer organisations:  ‘Apollo Bay Surf Lifesaving Club’, PO Box 11 Apollo Bay 3233 Phone: 5237 6765 and Life Saving Victoria, 200 The Boulevard, Port Melbourne VIC 3207, Phone: 03 9676 6900.  As a volunteer, it is a straight-forward process to obtain your WWCC and it is free of charge.  Visit www.workingwithchildren.vic.gov.au to apply, renew or update your details.

Note: Membership will not be accepted without a copy of your current WWCC.

Cadet

Aged 13 or 14 years old. Qualified to patrol and agrees to patrol for a minimum of 16 hours annually.

Active (Student)

Aged 15 years and over and studying full time.  Qualified to patrol and agrees to patrol for a minimum of 16 hours annually.

Active (Reserve)

Completed seven (7) years or more of continuous service as a senior patrol member. Qualified to patrol and agreed to patrol for a minimum of 10 hours annually.

Courses

Notes

  • All members 18 years and older must have a WWCC or equivalent.
  • To qualify to patrol you must hold a patrol award and ensure that annual Skills Maintenance is up-to-date.
  • Membership discounts: A $30 discount for 40 or more hours of patrol last season, and a $40 discount for 100 or more patrol hours last season. An email will be sent to those individuals that qualify for the discount.
  • Membership as an Active (Reserve) member must be first agreed to by the Apollo Bay SLSC.

SLS Member Area

It is important for each member, 13 years and over, to have an individual login to the “SLS Member Area”. This allows access to viewing patrol hours and awards, entering competitions and enrolling in training courses and skills maintenance.

To activate an individual login, go to the SLSA Members Area at https://members.sls.com.au/ Please keep your username simple and avoid special characters and don’t create a new account if you think you have one already. You will need to know the email address or mobile phone number associated with the existing account. If you don’t know, please DO NOT create a new account, and contact secretary@apollobayslsc.com.au for help.

Note: Being in a “Family Group” allows one member of the family to pay membership and course fees as part of their family group. Creating an individual login to the SLS Member Area does not affect the “Family Group”.
